GASOPHE is a statewide organization that serves professionals, students, communities and partners. We advance excellence in health education through professional development, practice and advocacy.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Expand the reach and impact of health education in Georgia- strengthen student engagement, enhance current and future partnerships.
  • Promote and support the health education profession statewide- bridge connections within the health education profession, outreach to public health professionals in rural Georgia.
  • Build health education capacity through workforce development- host career training and professional development sessions.
  • Maximize operational performance- redesign website, increase membership engagement, secure new and diverse funding sources.
  • Improve the health outcomes of all Georgians through advocacy- build bandwidth for GASOPHE to support health educators, promote establishing policies linked to local and state health priorities.

Who We Are

Serving since 1950, the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and healthy environments. The organization’s members, chapters, and partners work in various educational and professional settings to improve health and make it more widespread for the betterment of our communities and neighbors. SOPHE has thousands of members, including health education professionals and students, across the U.S. and numerous international countries.
GASOPHE serves as one of the few nationally recognized chapters within the organization. Through events and other efforts, the Georgia chapter’s aim matches that of SOPHE: Promoting health equity, healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and healthy environments.
